Laila sent the most positive and uplifting message to my daughter. She helped put her hockey experience into perspective and encouraged my daughter to never lose sight of her love of hockey as that’s what’s most important! I can’t say enough how much her kind, wise, and thoughtful words meant to my daughter. She was so genuine and you could tell she knew how much her words would matter. My son was very excited to receive this video and include it as a part of his school project for Black History Month. He also plays for a team that has several players who represent minority backgrounds; Laila's explanation of her own experience has given him some insight into the need for accessibility and representation in this great sport.
