Dreamer is an inspirational character who has done so much to counter anti-trans prejudices. She is fascinating, sympathetic, and compelling. Kudos to Ms. Maines for bringing Dreamer to life and making her believable. It takes a fine actor to create so important a super-hero, and Ms. Maines has pulled this off brilliantly. Hats off to her for this achievement.

Ms. Maines has displayed the intelligence and courage to speak out on critical issues, and has supplemented this with her dynamic and moving performance as Dreamer in Supergirl. I have pressed her on difficult and sensitive issues in my cameo requests to her and--once again--she has fearlessly articulated her important views on sometimes controversial topics. She yet again has forced me to rethink my possibly neanderthal views. In my view, she is every bit the hero that Dreamer is.
